Round 3 is over....is the VBB over too?
Round 3 is over! I hope, all who took part, enjoyed it! It was a poor round with lots of people skipping or dropping out altogether.
So the question I ask myself is - Do we bother to carry on? I am ready to throw in the towel. After so much work it just isn't happening. Also Vlad seems to be dead...maybe things will change.
So I am going to leave this open. I won't make a round 4 in August. I will see if activity goes up at Vlad first. Also if anyone steps up and says 'I will take over' then I will happily let someone else take over and still play.

Please don't be so discouraged. You seem to be taking what happens in this VBB personal. You really shouldn't. Please keep in mind that most people get very busy in the summer months. I don't know how it is in other countries, but it's very much that way in the US. With kids being out of school, many are on vacation or busy because the kids are in so many summer sports. I know we've been very busy here, with selling maples & my grandson starting kindergarten and a football team. Why don't you make a poll to see if people want to continue on with the VBB, or skip a month because of lack of interest or if because of lack ot time. Give choices to pick from though - don't just ask if they want to keep going or not. That way you'll know for sure how people are feeling. I'm sure you will see that it isn't that we're not interested, just busy!!

I agree with Marge, I think a poll would be a good idea. I love these VBBs and the swaps. I know we've had some problems here, but I think moving it to another kind of venue (the blog) helped. It might help if a couple more of us could help you update. That way, it wouldn't all be on you.
I am not taking anything personal and it annoys me when I hear that.
The main problem is that there are now only 8 people taking part and this isn't enough to carry the VBB on. If one or 2 people skip a round that means only 6 people taking part...it just isn't worth the time and effort.
I am being realistic. It was a good idea and I enjoyed taking part and also setting things up even if it was frustrating at times...the problem is that there just isn't enough interest.
Sure people are on holiday but I don't see it being any better any other round or month. Most of us are in swaps/VBBs over on Bookobsessed and are too overwhelmed with them to also take part here.
So please don't make it sound like I am taking things personally! I am trying to be realistic.
As for a vote...yes or no? If people vote yes then I want names...so I can go back and say 'hey you wanted to keep this going so you can't just drop out or miss 2 rounds in a row'. I didn't even start this VBB until we had over 10 votes for people who wanted to join.
Also I have to say that Club Vlad is very dead lately. I don't know what is going on over there but I don't think it is just because people are on holidays...
Over on Bookobsessed there is Kathy...Rianonne...Me...Cherie, Maplesflowers etc (actually everyone signed up for the VBB and practically everyone from Club Vlad) and still there aren't isn't anything going on.
Maybe I am ranting a little but I want to make sure that it is worth carrying this on.
It's really your call since you are the organizer. There does seem to be a slow-down over on CV.

It was pure luck that I stumbled over the discussion here - I'm sure the others who haven't posted their opinion don't know about the big question too!!
I'd say make a poll over on Club Vlad (you can always make it personal and see the names beside the yes/no) or ask every player personally ...

With only 8 girls left there may be some really fast rounds when players are skipping. But I really think that it is the summer hole - just look over at the Paranormal VBB and how many players skipped there too!!
I'd love to see the Vlad VBB stay alive and offer to take it over ... BUT I surely prefer another site because I'm absolutely dump with such things like blogs, colours, wallpaper guys and so on *blushing* If I keep it going I have to confess that Cherie's example looks simpler - but that is me with no experience with such things.
AND I do want to keep it as simple as possible because when I'm back at work I won't have lots of time to "play" (making dump mistakes, throwing things against the wall in frustration) around to update the list.
So, if you want, Amber, I can go ahead and post a poll at Club Vlad, make a post there to get the group back to live or ask all the others via email - I'm still off work ...
Thanks for your offer Rianonne. I really appreciate your offer of taking over the box. I think however that we still have to wait before making any big decisions.
Firstly I would like to hear from the other people in the box. Funnily no one else has popped in to see if the next round has started let alone ask about when it will be starting.
Secondly Club Vlad is still being extremely dead lately. I hate to disagree but I don't believe in this 'Summer hole'. Everyone in this box has still found the time to appear on Bookobsessed so there is no excuse.
So lets do the poll thing and see what comes. I don't want to come to a decision right now though...I think we should wait until September incase this 'Summer Hole' does really exsist.
Oh and changing things on the blog is ALOT easier than the other things I tried. You don't need to write any code here. It is so easy I think my nan could even use it ;)

I'm fine either way with whatever comes up . I've been enjoying getting books from the pile but I don't know that sometimes I'm holding onto books for this rather than offering them as possible rings.
I'd be happy if it continued but not too distressed if it didn't.
I will stay in the VBB if we continue with it. I like this sort of thing. I have only 2 boxes I'm in at BookObsessed (paranormal and romance) so I'm not too stressed about finding books to add. I haven't stretched myself out yet! :)
Now about the summer slump, in both the boxes I mentioned, people were skipping and dropping to the bottom a lot!! In the romance vbb at one point 4-6 people in a row skipped the month. I think that it is a combination of 1) summer slump - missing on vacation
2) getting ready to go back to school (now in August)
3) people trying to catch up so they're either not playing or limiting how many boxes they play.
Looks like they chose BO over CV this month.
Anyway, like I said, I'll stay in, if we keep the VBB.

I will not be taking part in the VBB anymore.
I have enough action over on Bookobsessed.com and Club Vlad just isn't active enough for me right now.
Maybe I will be back at some point but for now I am keeping to one site.

Rianonne, I'm almost done with the Riley Jenson books, so I might just have them out to you soon. I'll post when I do. :)
